Water and Weight Loss

Water is essential to any weight loss program. First and foremost it ensures you're your body is well hydrated and able to digest the food and get the most value from it. It is also important for your body not to be forced into dehydration alert. If we don't drink enough water the body will hold on to the water it has and cause water retention.

As well as hydrating the body, water is a natural appetite suppressant. In the hypothalamus, a region in your brain that controls appetites and cravings, the control centers for hunger and thirst are located next to each other, and there tends to be some overlap. This has both advantages and disadvantages for the dieter: The disadvantage is that it causes chronic mild dehydration that can confuse these control mechanisms, leading to feelings of hunger, rather than thirst. But the reverse means you can use water to reduce your appetite thus improving weight loss

Water is an essential component of the processes that enable muscle to contract. This means that water helps to maintain muscle tone. Better muscle tone means a better looking body, and isn't that what dieting and weight loss is about?

Water also helps to prevent the sagging skin that often follows weight loss - water plumps the skin cells, giving the skin a younger and healthier look.

Water helps rid the body of waste. During weight loss, the body has a lot more waste to get rid of, as a by-product of all that metabolized fat, so adequate water is essential to your health while dieting.

When the body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from within, particularly from the colon. This leads to constipation. Normal bowel function usually returns with adequate water intake. This is an essential component of any weight loss regime.

Once you have reached the point where the body is fully hydrated, fluid retention eases, the liver and endocrine system start to function more effectively, you will start to regain your natural thirst and your hunger cravings will be significantly reduced. Once you have stabilized your water balance your body will be able to metabolize fat more effectively resulting in a more effective fast weight loss.

Healthy Weight Loss

Fad diets are to be avoided at all costs. Some of them are nothing short of dangerous whereasd others will fail to give you the weight loss results you are looking for and may even result in you gaining weight

Weight Watchers Beware!

If you have heard of the grapefruit diet you may be wondering what this consists of. Basically what a grapefruit diet consists of is eating as much grapefruit as a person wants along with other foods on the grapefruit diet menu. If you choose to try this diet you will be restricted from drinking beverages that contain caffeine, alcohol, and other questionable substances.

Usually a health establishment such as the Mayo Clinic (along with other organizations such as the American Heart Association) promotes diets that encourage gradual weight loss. They do not support diets that require a person to eat just a certain amount of foods in order to lose weight.

The grapefruit diet or similar diets may help a person lose weight in the early stages. The problem is that the weight loss is not usually from the fat reserve when on a diet like this.

Before embarking on a diet like the grapefruit diet it would be wise to check it out with your doctor. A doctor will give you a checkup and then will help determine what number of calories and what amount of each nutrient you would need in one day. A dietitian can also help you in regards to meal planning. A healthy weight loss plan is by far the best way forward

It is more likely that any weight loss diets that are prescribed by a doctor or a dietitian would include foods that contain a variety of nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and calcium. Usually most people are prescribed diets that contain meats, grains, vegetables, and dairy products or a more balanced diet to lose weight.

Foods that would fit into one or more of the above-mentioned nutritional categories include whole grain bread, cereal, chicken, fish, beef (in moderation), cheese, milk, oranges, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, and apples. Nuts and seeds also fit into one of the nutritional categories as part of a daily diet for weight loss

The bottom line is if the diet isn't a well balanced nutritious diet then it is unlikely to lead to successful sustained healthy weight loss

Natural Weight Loss

Natural weight loss is a big subject today for many people who do not understand the principle of eating only the amount they need for the amount physical activity required. That simple set of instructions should be easy to follow, but not for 35 percent of Americans who are unable to prevent being overweight. There are many reasons why you would want to lose weight once you have put it on, but what reason is strong enough to actually encourage you to do it, good health or looks?

What most people do not realize is keeping at the right weight is much, much easier than losing it. This is something that all of us know deep down, that if we do not watch what we eat and how much we exercise, then we are doomed to an overweight future.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie diet, eventually drift back to their old ways and start piling the pounds back on again. There are many reasons why you shouldn't become overweight, experts say and as many ways to stop it from happening.

The importance of maintaining a healthy weight is more than just for looks though as the number of health problems related to weight and obesity grows. He annoying thing is this is not rocket science, humankind hasn't always been this heavy and we certainly aren't born that way so it means that inside we must know exactly what we need to do to achieve weight loss and maintain a natural, healthy weight.

The right approach to weight loss is to eat the right quantity of the correct foodstuffs which includes what are known as complex carbohydrates also foods high in carbohydrates, a reasonable amount of protein and of course low in fat content. A complex carbohydrate is a baked potato and fat is the sour cream and butter you should not put on it, the oil you should not fry them in or the gravy you should not pour over it, the fiber is vegetables and protein is a lean cut of meat.

The problem is that calories from dietary products can be high and because of this they have a tendency to be retained by the body as fat which is something that doesn't happen when excess calories are consumed with other foods. On the other hand, it can also help you lose weight naturally if you will not fall into the so-called fat-free trap where manufacturers keep coming out with low-fat or fat-free versions of their best-selling foods, but Americans keep getting fatter anyway.

It is a great misconception that if you are eating something that is fat-free then you won't be adding extra fat to your body but all food contains calories and if they are not burned off then extra weight will be put on in the form of fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of the foods that are advertised that way but is better to respond to hunger with healthy snacks.

Some health care specialists believe that a natural weight loss method is to eat smaller meals and healthy, nutritious snacks every 3 or 4 hours, but avoid missing meals because regular eating can get you into good habits. Maintaining a healthy weight is just that; a natural weight loss program that will continue and enable you to live a long healthy life.

Natural Weight Loss

Whenever you embark on a weight loss regime it is always a good idea to make use of anything that is natural to help you to get the most out of your diet.

Enzymes helps break down fat, which cause you to be overweight and they also breaks down the fat deposit in arteries in the form of plaque. They help control high blood pressure and even high cholesterol.

So what are enzymes?? Enzymes are proteins that facilitate chemical reactions in living organisms. In fact, they are required for every single chemical action that takes place in your body. All of your cells, organs, bones, muscles, and tissues are governed by enzymes. It is apparent that enzymes are a big factor when it comes to natural weight loss.

Enzymes play a massive part in ensuring that our bodies function optimally. Your digestive system, immune system, blood stream, liver, kidneys, spleen, and pancreas, as well as your ability to see, think, feel, and breathe, all depend on enzymes. All of the minerals and vitamins you eat and all of the hormones your body produces need enzymes in order to work properly. In fact, every single metabolic function (weight loss) in your body is governed by enzymes. Your stamina, your energy level, your ability to utilize vitamins and minerals, your immune system -- all governed by enzymes.

Ellen Cutler, M.D. is a medical doctor who regularly sees patients who are either overweight or obese. Unlike many doctors, she is convinced that the frequently overlooked area of the human digestive system is an essential component of understanding and treating weight related problems. Poor digestion of food, says Dr. Cutler, is directly responsible for a whole range of weight related problems, from simple excess pounds to chronic overeating. She believes that the answer lies with natural weight loss

If you are to experience natural weight loss then the bottom line is you need to eat natural foods (not processed foods) and make use of natural supplements.

Natural Weight Loss versus Fad Weight Loss?

Natural weight loss is always the best option but it is easy to get side tracked my the many fad diets that promise that you will lose 9lb in a week. This can be very appealing tp anyone wanting to lose weight quickly.

Is this type of fad weight loss really possible? Yes - but... in almost every instance the weight loss from a fad diet is temporary and usually due to loss of water weight. Our bodies are made up of a large percentage of water so as soon as your body re-hydrates itself you will put that fast weight loss right back on.

What are some of the reasons a fad diet is not good for you?

1. A fad diet usually tells you to focus on a single food type and avoid all others. This means you miss out on the nutrition you really need and can get from a more balanced diet approach. Healthy weight loss is a much better idea

Quite often these fad diets will even tell you to take vitamins and supplements to make up for all the nutritional deficiencies you experience while on that fad diet. However, your body will not be able to absorb the nutrients from the recommended supplements unless you take them with food. And many of the foods that help you absorb nutrients are banned on fad diets.

2. Fad diets are usually so restrictive and unappetizing that after as little as one day you will begin having overwhelming cravings for other foods and most likely you will not be able to complete the fad diet. This quitting will also wreak havoc on your self esteem as you may beat yourself up for not having enough willpower to stick it out with the diet for natural weight loss.

3. Fad diets are temporary solutions for your weight problems. Even if you do follow through to the end with a fad diet you have not made permanent healthy changes to the way you handle food in your life. So fad dieters tend to be yo-yo dieters that go back and forth between extreme lo-calorie fad diets to periods of binging on food groups that were missing from the fad diet. So fad dieters are on a roller coaster of gaining and losing the same pounds again and again.

No matter what you see in the media about quick weight loss fad diets, realize that these diets will never work long term.

The best way to lose weight is through natural weight loss. If you eat a variety of healthy foods, avoid overeating, and do regular exercise you will never need to diet again. This simple formula works every time.

Free Weight Loss Program For Teens

Is weight loss a burning issue for you??

If you are one of the unfortunate people who puts weight on easily despite your best efforts, I sympathise. Nothing is more annoying than watching somebody eat twice as much as you knowing that they will not put on a pound whereas you will struggle not to put on a pound or two. Life really isn't fair. However that said, we have to accept the way we are made and get to grips with eating the right foods for our body types and ensure that we lose any excess weight and/or maintain our healthy weight

Losing weight is in vogue right now. What with celebrities and teen stars all losing pounds, it is not surprising that the vast majority of teens in America are also obsessed with weight loss programs. Everyone wants to stay as slim as the models that they see strutting in the catwalks. Everyone wants to be able to dress like their idols.

Weight loss programs, however, can be really expensive. And no amount of saving your monthly allowance will be able to make you afford one. Unless of course you have a trust fund like that of the Hilton sisters!

Losing weight however need not be expensive. In fact, you can lose those additional pounds without even having to shell out a lot of money. This is especially true if you do not really need to lose much. You can actually do it for free. You don't believe me? Read on below and find some weight loss tips on how to lose weight for free.

Work out how much you need to lose

The process of losing weight is different for different people. This is because people need to lose different amounts of weight. A weight loss program that has worked for someone who needs to lose a little over 20 pounds may not work for someone who needs to lose more than 50 pounds. The same is true for people who have the time to work out in a gym and those who opt for home exercise.

Before you determine the right program for losing weight, you have to first know just how much weight you have to lose. To do this, consult the body mass index to know the ideal weight for your age and your height. After doing this, you will be able to plan your own weight program.

Combine Diet And Exercise

This is a very important part of your weight loss program. One of the most costly mistakes both financially and health-wise that teenagers make is to concentrate on just one aspect of dieting. This may not be good for the dieter as concentrating on just one will not balance out the weight loss. It is important that you combine both of these things to achieve maximum weight loss. What is more, when both of these are combined, weight loss is more permanent and more lasting.

Slowly But Surely...

In this day and age of fast this and fast that, everyone ones to have fast weight loss. But crash diets do not work in the long run. Oh, it can make you lose weight fast, but because of what your body has gone through, you will gain the lost pounds just as fast. It is important that you give yourself enough time to lose those unwanted pounds slowly but surely. This way, you can be sure that your healthy weight loss will be sustained.

Check Your Commitment

Are you committed to your weight loss program?? One important ingredient in any weight loss program is the desire for weight loss. You can enroll in the most expensive weight loss program, but without the determination to lose weight, your money will just go down the drain. If you have full commitment in the program, even if it is something that you have only planned yourself, you can succeed.

If you follow the above weight loss tips you will have a far better chance of success.

Weight Loss and Diabetics

So many diseases of the modern day can be controlled by diet. Very often the mere fact of being overweight can cause the disease, mainly due to bad dietary habits.

Diabetes is one disease, if you are Type 2, where you have control over the progression of the disease by embarking on a healthy weight loss diet. You can actually stop the progression of Type 2, and get off your medications you are taking by controlling your weight.

Being a Type2 diabetic and working on my weight loss. I do all the things your not suppose to do! But getting better at it! Weight loss is the key along with the foods you eat.

Talking with my eye doctor on my yearly visit, as we discussed any possible changes due to diabetes, the Doctor said you know that you are the only one who can control the progression of this disease. During our discussion, we talked about what is necessary to control diabetes. We all know we have to do certain things to stay healthy! I believe there are ways to stay healthy lose weight and not take medications and manage weight loss. I didn't say it would be easy! To lose weight you need to do what is necessary as a diabetic. The internet has a bundle of information through a Google search. The magic pill is exercise and weight loss.

Ok listen up everyone knows Gladys Knight and the Pips! I believe she was on tour and passed out. After going to the hospital she found out she was a diabetic. She stared a regiment of weight loss and wrote a cook book for diabetics to eat and cook healthy food.

As everyone knows our society wants everything right now, immediately. We do the same thing when we eat, quick fast foods, in and out with a bag or run inside and gobble down the food, some weight loss program.

When all was said and done the Dr. said everything was fine no changes which means I have to be doing something right with controlling my weight loss. Better yet controlling your weight loss can give you a better feeling about what is happening in your life. Remember if it's going to be it's up to me! Are we perfect at what we do? No! But if you need a weight loss tips call me.

If you have any questions about natural weight loss I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Weight loss for the over 40's

Whether you are in your 20's your 40's or whatever age you are, weight loss is an issue, especially if you are he sort of person who put weight on easily despite all your best efforts.

As we get older it would appear that our metabolism slows down and we tend to need less food than we did when we were younger. Inevitably we are concerned about keeping our metabolism fired up to ensure that weight loss doesn't become an issue for us. As our bodies undergo the ravages of time, keeping that belly flat becomes even more important as we attempt to look and feel our best.

Although people will tell you that diet alone will get rid of that stubborn weight the truth that it isn't enough for consistent and sustained weight loss. Exercise is an important part of the equation. However what a lot of people don't realize is that only certain types of exercise will give them the desired results.

You may have read an article that said hundreds of crunches, leg lifts, and twists will do the trick. Well you may feel as though you are doing all the right things but I can guarantee a six-pack will be nowhere to be found. Sound familiar? If so, it's time you got off the floor and on your feet again, because the only way you're going to achieve the shape you want is to reduce your body fat.

What can me more irritating than seeing men and women on the front of fitness magazines with the most perfect bodies imaginable. Most of them will have a body fat percentage of less than ten percent. And, as you can tell by looking at them, they definitely have ab muscles. The truth of the matter is - so do you; the only difference is you can't see yours, because they're hidden behind a layer of subcutaneous fat.

If you seriously want to get rid of this fatty layer and expose your six-pack, stick to a well balanced diet. No simple sugars (that includes white flour products), eat plenty of good quality protein, and follow a cardio program that works for you. This means engaging in a high-intensity interval training workout, which has been shown to reduce fat at a rapid rate and will ultimately enhance natural weight loss

If you really want to see results I would suggest that you incorporate a resistance training program into your fitness regime. A weightlifting circuit routine is probably advisable as this will have the effect of building lean muscle which in turn will help to raise your metabolism and burn fat. Follow this approach your ab muscles will be evident in no time. It is important to beware that even though your goal may be to lose weight you may find that your weight loss becomes a weight gain in the short term due to the fact that muscle weighs heavier than fat. It is probably a good idea to join a gym so that you get professional advise, or alternatively hire a fitness coach for a few hours to get you going.

Contrary to popular opinion, this type of exercise regime is not just for the younger generation but also for the older generation. In fact it is thought that general health is improved in the elderly if they have a sensible fitness regime that incorporates weight training. It is also worth remembering that as our metabolism continues to slow down as we age, correct eating habits and appropriate fitness programs become even more important if we are to have sustained weight loss and are to enjoy full health and fitness as we approach our later years.

Whatever your age remember to eat a well balanced diet and take part in a fitness regime, that includes a cardio vascular and a weight training element, at least 3 times a week.

Health and fitness are the most important aspect of your third age. as this is a time when you need to be fit enough to enjoy your retirement and the opportunities that are open to you.

Weight Loss Tips

No matter how many times you have tried to lose weight there are always some words of wisdom that offer you new ways to succeed.

Here are some weight loss tips from experts that are bound to help in your goal of losing weight:

Before you tear into that bag of potato chips, drink a glass of water first. People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger, so you can end up eating extra calories when an ice-cold glass of water is really all you needed. If plain water doesn't cut it, try drinking a cup of fruit-infused herbal tea.

Mindless eating occurs most frequently after dinner, when you finally sit down and relax. Snacking in front of the TV is one of the easiest ways to throw your diet off course. Either close down the kitchen after a certain hour, or allow yourself a low-calorie snack such as a boiled egg or few almonds.

Instead of cutting out your favorite foods altogether, become a slim shopper. Buy one fresh bakery cookie instead of a box, or a small portion of candy from the bulk bins instead of a whole bag. You can still enjoy your favorite foods; the key is moderation. However if you want to maintain your weight loss you will need to get your body used to having little or no sugar or you will find that your insulin levels continue to rise making weight loss more difficult.

If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you'll lose weight. But when you're hungry all the time, eating fewer calories can be a challenge. "Studies show people who eat 4 to 5 meals or snacks per day are better able to control their appetite and weight," says obesity researcher Rebecca Reeves. She recommends as one of her weight loss tips, dividing your daily calories into smaller meals or snacks and enjoying most of them earlier in the day. Dinner should be the last time you eat.

Protein is the ultimate fill-me-up food; it's more satisfying than carbs or fats and keeps you feeling full for longer. It also helps preserve muscle mass and encourages fat burning and weight loss. So be sure to incorporate healthy proteins like lean meat, yogurt, cheese, nuts, or beans into your meals and snacks.

Having ready-to-eat snacks and meals-in-minutes on hand sets you up for weight loss success. You'll be less likely to hit the drive-through or call in a pizza order if you can throw together a healthy meal in five or 10 minutes. Here are some essentials to keep on hand: frozen vegetables, whole-grain pasta, reduced-fat cheese, canned tomatoes, canned beans, pre-cooked grilled chicken breast, whole grain tortillas or pitas, and bags of salad greens.

Well, that ought to give you some ‘food for thought’. Try all of them and have fun while losing weight and staying healthy.

Natural Weight Loss

One of the major desires controlling our society today is to be thin. Everyone craves those sleek curves and that flat stomach. Natural weight loss seems to be obsolete these days. No one wants to work for those trim legs anymore.

While many Americans stay busy with work and daily television programs, exercise is not typically on their list of priorities. Everyone wants to be in shape, but there has to be an easier way. With the abilities of plastic surgery and instant fixes, people are always in search of a shortcut. Why spend an hour at the gym for a few months, when you can just head to the doctor for a nip or a tuck?

A prime concern with this quick-fix method is the results. Natural weight loss offers a much sounder outcome. One thing we should always remember in life is, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

Having your thighs vacuumed will not put an end to your weight gain. Achieving and maintaining a nice figure is no simple matter. It's an ongoing process.

When we eat healthy, we feel better. A daily regimen of exercise can keep our weight down and our bodies toned. This method of natural weight loss is typically the best and safest way to go. You have to remember that when you keep a horrible diet and simply resort to going under the knife for a prompt solution, nothing is really gained. The weight will come back. Only when you change your diet and lifestyle can you achieve permanent success.

Natural weight loss isn't referred to as natural for nothing. When we allow our body good nourishment and low fat, it takes a natural path of its own. By adding a daily exercise routine, we boost our metabolism, which keeps that weight down. Plastic surgery is all too often misunderstood. Many do not understand the measures that must be taken prior to and after the surgery. Your diet certainly plays a part in the surgery's success. Not to mention exercise is necessary for proper healing.

Whether you're struggling with your weight or simply trying to drop a few pounds, natural weight loss is usually the best path.

Weight Loss
One of my Mother’s constant concerns was about her weight and weight loss. She had been very slim when she was a young person but as the years passed, she tended to gain a bit of weight. She was very conscious of this, but she had a strange way of dealing with weight loss.

She would often about dieting, but it was always to be started tomorrow. And tomorrow never came. Her meals were healthy, but deserts were her downfall.

I too became conscious of my weight and watched it very carefully. If I gained a few pounds, I cut back my food intake. I really did not want to put on any weight at all. I knew though that I was fortunate to successfully avoid having a weight problem.

Many people know they are over weight but do not, or can not do anything about losing or wanting to lose weight. There are also those who really don't mind being too heavy. There are so many diets that are available and they very likely may all work if you use them consistently. There are many infomercials on TV that tell you their exercise product that they sell will work without any problem. Buy my machine and shed the weight. Exercise is important and with the exercise a person decides upon, will make a difference in losing weight. For some people that is enough to do it.

One thing I am sure of is that you have to want to lose weight in order to successfully see Weight Loss. Weight loss to me comes first. Then what you choose as a diet is secondary.

I think a product that you really like is important because then you enjoy the taste and it takes your mind off any feelings of distress due to feeling hungry that you may feel. So, you must first decide your weight loss goal and then decide how you are going to achieve.

The way to reach that goal and what you need to help you to achieve on the way is very important. Once you have made the plans, you need to stick to them. Keep a daily journal with your Weight Loss goal at the top and write daily of each of your successes, no matter how small they may seem. I really believe that praising yourself for your little steps really helps and works towards you being a winner.

I'm sure all of us at some time have considered dieting for weight loss!
I was told once that a diet is a two week period where you carefully watch what you eat before you gain weight. Of course not all of us need to lose weight. Actually, not everyone wants to lose weight. Some people are quite content with their body. However, for those of us who need to and want to achieve some weight loss, it can often be a very difficult experience. For some, the journey is never completed, as we are constantly distracted exploring other paths. In my personal efforts to reach a healthy weight, I have been fortunate to lose some excess weight and keep it off.

How did I achieve my Weight Loss?
Well, I'm still working towards my ideal weight but I have manged to keep off thirty pounds. I had lost a total of fifty-two pounds in five months and then sort of changed back into some of my old habits which resulted in a weight gain. But for me, keeping off that thirty two pounds is a great start. I hadn't really accepted just how overweight I was. And I didn't realize how other people saw me. That is until one day someone I hadn't see for some time asked if I was ill! It was then I knew that the weight loss I had was very noticeable to others.

Did I do anything special to be successful at losing some weight?
Did I find that magic pill that would simply melt away the pounds?
Not really. Did I use some weight loss products during my journey. Yes, I did use something to help. But, I came to realize that you need something more than some weight loss pills and special drinks. Anyone who thinks that is the answer will surely be disappointed, discouraged and heart broken. What did I realize that was so important? It was nothing new to me because I have always known the answer. Just as all of us who are struggling with our weight know what we must do in order to lose those extra pounds.

There are two things I changed in my lifestyle. Two simple things that all of us must do to achieve weight loss. Change our eating habits and importantly, exercise. I started to actually eat food that was healthy for me. I gave up so many things such as breads, sweets, soda etc. You know , like what we consider as all the good things! Was it difficult? Extremely. I also supplemented my eating with some meal replacement shakes. I found that these were very helpful and also an important part of my weight loss plan. The second simple thing I did was to start exercising. I joined a local gym and began to work out regularly. At least five days per week. My work out consisted of thirty minutes on an elliptical machine and some light weight resistance along with some sit-ups. That's all. And it worked.

I have recently re-started my program to lose weight again. I'm back on track. I need to achieve more weight loss. Actually, my health requires it. I want it. Weight Loss Tips

People searching for weight loss solutions often just want some simple rules and some sample menus to get them started. Many people don't just want to read a book and sort out the diet for themselves nor do they want to join a slimming club and be weighed and prodded and poked at every week.

Here are some simple rules that can help you with your weight loss program. 1. Always have a good breakfast that contains a reasonable amount of protein. Protein is needed to turn fat into lean muscle and is very important for anyone who wants to experience successful weight loss
2. Have protein at every meal for the reasons stated above. Protein also helps to speed up the metabolic rate
3. Avoid tea and coffee and alcohol as they are stimulants and can play havoc with your metabolism
4. Eat regularly. Five smaller meals is actually better than three larger meals as every time you eat you are stimulating your metabolism to help your Weight Loss
5. Drink plenty of water. Lack of water can cause the body to hold on to water as it is afraid that there won't be enough. This can cause water retention. Also hunger is often one of he bodies cries for water and a glass of water may mean you are no longer hungry for food.
6. Exercise regularly. Twenty minutes exercise that raises the heart rate is ideal. Any exercise you do after that however small will burn more calories. If you don't like structured exercise find ways of increasing your activity. Run upstairs instead of walking. Walk briskly to the shop instead of taking the car. Stretch your muscles, by literally stretching your arms and legs and turning/twisting your upper body
7. If you do like exercise, weight training can be beneficial as muscle helps to burn fat - an essential component of your weight loss program.
8. Sort out any food intolerances you may have as they can prevent you from being able to lose weight
9. Begin to visualise yourself as becoming the person you want to be.
10. Throw away your scales. If they are indicating significant weight loss, according you may just have lost muscle or water. This is not an indication you have burned any fat.

There are so many myths that surround the weight loss industry that it isn't surprising that so many people fail achieve successful Weight Loss. Those who do manage to lose weight often fail to maintain that weight and are very quickly returning to their previous weight and heavier. Keep it simple and use your common sense. If it makes sense then likely it will work. If a weight loss program sounds ridiculous then you are unlikely to lose weight healthily and permanently.

Weight Loss

I have been the operator of a slimming club for many years I have seen many hundreds and thousands of people who are desperate to find how to achieve weight loss. When someone new joins a slimming club, we usually ask them a few questions about their dietary and eating habits so that we start to build a picture of why they are overweight and how they can be helped to successfully lose weight.

Many people simply see themselves as fat and unattractive and so consequently if they see themselves as fat they will eat as if they are fat, diminishing their chances of Weight Loss considerably. One of the first things they need to do to overcome this is to think of their personal image as thin and then they will be more inclined to eat as a thin person thus increasing their capability to achieve their desired weight loss.

Of course there is far more to it than that, but all these aspects need to be taken into consideration if the ability to obtain a weight loss is to be optimized. It is a form of mind over matter and also fits in with the ideas put forward by the law of attraction - you are what you think you are. If you think you are slim then you will attract slimness. If you want to lose weight successfully it is no use eating all the right foods and doing all the exercises if deep down you see yourself as fat and unattractive as you will soon give up, your ability to achieve weight loss will be diminished and you will become once again the fat person you think you are.

I was often astounded by the dietary habits of many of my customers. Never having experienced real food cravings myself I found it hard to believe that anyone could eat a 2 liter tub of ice cream in one sitting, or a whole cake or even a whole packet of biscuits. But these cravings where very real to some people and were the main reason why they put weight on in the first place and then found it so difficult to achieve any sort of weight loss.

Most food cravings are cravings for sugar or white flour products that convert quickly into sugar. This is due to the fact that the person concerned has an inability to stabilize their blood sugar levels and so every time their blood sugar drops they have a craving for sugar to raise the blood sugar level as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately this soon creates a yoyo effect and hypoglycemia is the result - constant low blood sugar - resulting in the regular need for sugar intake. This can be remedied by ensuring that your diet is high in complex carbohydrates as the more complex they are the longer it takes to break them down and the longer the body has to use the energy they are producing. In really bad cases supplementing with chromium can help to stabilize the blood sugar levels as long as this is done in conjunction with a diet high in complex carbohydrates. This will ultimately help you with your weight loss more effectively.

Another aspect that I found very interesting was the number of people who were surprised when they didn't lose weight. Mainly this would be because they would have virtually eaten nothing during the previous week. They tended to equate no food with Weight Loss and were equally surprised to hear that to lose weight you have to eat or your metabolism will cease to work. It was almost as if they had become afraid to eat in case they didn't lose weight.

So many of the aspects of weight loss that I came across were of a psychological nature. People's perceptions of themselves and what they needed to do to lose weight were so distorted that weight loss was almost an impossibility.

Weight Loss is very often difficult to achieve. So, if it is to be successful, it needs to be approached with a positive attitude. Without this it is unlikely that success will be long lasting.
